Artistic Statement
Relatability, authenticity, and emotionality. These three words describe what my artistry is. My biggest inspiration when creating works would be through my everyday encounters, with that comes with different goals, tasks, and emotions. My movements are athletic and come from an emotional place. What makes my work stand out the most is my application of my versatile background in hip-hop, jazz, contemporary, and improvisation. I become inspired by taking new classes from different teachers and genres; this is when I begin to grow in my artistry. My art is ever evolving, and I will always strive to create new pieces that expand my palette of versatility and authenticity as an artist.
Teaching Statement
I am hard-working, passionate, creative, and personable. With my eight years of teaching, I have understood what students need and what makes a great teacher. Four valuable aspects when it comes to teaching are inclusivity, challenge, versatility, and individuality. Dance means something different to each person. I want to challenge them, to be prepared to anything in the dance world, and express who they are as an individual. Creating an inclusive classroom environment is essential to me and students flourish in this space. Teaching is a way of inspiring and mentoring the next generation. I have had great mentors and dance teachers that have changed my life, and I want to be able to do the same.
